‘Bee Creative’ is a community based project that seeks to promote creativity as part of Creative Beeston. From origami bombing, to ‘Crafty Catch Ups,’ workshops and guerrilla gardening, we are committed to offering creative opportunities for people in the local community. We have more recently been working with Two Little Magpies to provide professional workshop experiences and run weekly drop-in classes on Mondays at Middle Street Resource Centre from 7pm – 9pm.
‘Bee Creative’ workshops are FREE or affordable community workshops that provide a welcoming environment for people to get together and create something with little or no previous experience. Workshops are currently delivered by myself and Kayrakise Evans, we are experienced and patient and offer a range of skills bringing you a variety of new things to learn. We are also now offering mentoring to budding creatives who might like to build a small business out of their creative endeavours.
The merits of art and crafts on mental well-being have been studied widely and the work of the Mental Health Foundation found substantial evidence that patients who are suffering with depression or anxiety found creative pursuits more successful in helping their symptoms than medical alternatives.
